FOOTBALL

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to sign wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year contract. That’s according to a person who spoke Friday, because the contract was not finalized.

Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs agreed to a contract extension beginning with the 2024 season, the team announced Thursday. His new deal will reportedly pay $13 million in 2024 and extend through the 2033 season, and pushes Smart past Clemson’s Dabo Swinney as the highest-paid football coach.

BASEBALL

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge was ejected for the first time in his career when he argued a called third strike by plate umpire Ryan Blakney in the seventh inning of Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on Friday, and the three-time AL MVP is expected to return this season. The team said the outfielder will remain in Anaheim for the start of his rehab process.

TENNIS

Iga Swiatek avenged her loss in last year’s final to Aryna Sabalenka and won the Madrid Open Saturday after a third-set tiebreaker. The top-ranked Swiatek beat No. 2 Sabalenka 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7) for her 20th career title and third of the season.
