The Los Angeles Lakers fired coach Darvin Ham after just two seasons in charge. The Lakers dismissed Ham four days after their season ended with a first-round playoff loss to Denver. Ham led LA to the Western Conference finals in his first season as a head coach. The Lakers went 47-35 in the regular season.

Indiana Fever fans will get to see Caitlin Clark make her home debut one day earlier.

Next week’s preseason game against the Atlanta Dream will be played on Thursday. The game was May 10, but was moved to accommodate the Pacers playoff schedule.

Track & Field

Three-time U.S. Olympian Emma Coburn says her “dream of Paris is over” after breaking her ankle at a meet in Shanghai and undergoing surgery. Coburn, who won bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2016 Games in Brazil, will miss the U.S. Olympic track trials.

BASEBALL

Major League Baseball uniforms will have larger lettering on the back of jerseys and individual pant customization will be available starting in 2025, MLB and Nike announced Friday. Uniform adjustments will be made after talks with players, clubs and equipment managers.
