Dawn Holland, the founder of a Bend addiction-treatment center accused of stealing more than $300,000 from the nonprofit earlier this week, was arrested Thursday.

Holland, 51, was charged Monday with nine counts of aggravated theft and one count of theft involving Dawns House, according to a grand jury indictment. Aggravated theft is used when allegations involve property worth more than $10,000. She also had a warrant out for her arrest.

Holland, namesake of the Bend addiction nonprofit treatment center, was arrested Thursday morning at the Bend Police Department after detectives called her, Bend Police Detective Sgt. Tommy Russell told The Bulletin. She was initially called to retrieve property and discuss the warrant, but she was ultimately taken into custody, he said.

On July 20, 2023, the vice president of Dawns House reported missing funds to the police, Russell said in a news release.

An investigation ensued, and detectives recruited a financial investigator from the Department of Justice’s charitable activities division, which supervises and regulates Oregon’s charitable organizations.

Holland allegedly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from Dawns House between 2019 and 2023 through the use of a company credit card.

She was taken to the Deschutes County jail Thursday morning on a $50,000 bond, according to jail records.
