Railroad news to date is favorable still to the Deschutes railroad. While there is strong suspicion in the minds of many in regard to Harriman’s good faith concerning railroad matters, yet the consensus of opinion is that Central Oregon is soon to be given the long desired railroad. With the beginning of construction of a railroad to tap this vast inland empire, there will follow a development and expansion here that will surprise and will be pleasing to all of us. What are you going to do to help it along? The time is ripe and we are at the threshold of a new and more prosperous commercial life that will be better in all particulars. There’s a lot of good common sense in that old-fashioned proverb about all putting their shoulders to the wheel and pushing together. Let us in Central Oregon exemplify that spirit.

The Bulletin has talked with numerous men who have had experience in irrigated countries and it has yet to find one who is not pleased with the Bend country. One of them, who had visited several sections and who had years of experience with irrigation, said this was the best irrigation project he had ever seen. All of them agree on this one point, that the Bend country is O.K. Coming from men who are experienced in the method of farming that will be employed here, ie., irrigation, such testimony is most reliable and valuable. It speaks well for this section.
