Girls golf state championships: Summit second in 5A and Crook County second in 4A/3A/2A/1A

- Crook County’s Merritt O’Gorman finished 14th to lead the Crook County girls golf team to the 4A/3A/2A/1A girls golf state championships on Tuesday in Corvallis.
The Summit girls golf team finished second on Tuesday in the Class 5A state championships at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
Wilsonville won the 5A team state title with a two-day score of 680. Summit finished with a 716 and North Eugene was third with a 763.
North Eugene’s Francesca Tomp easily won the individual state title, finishing 3-over (70-75—145).
Caldera’s Anna Latimer finished second overall as an individual, shooting a 76 on Tuesday after an 81 on Monday for a 15-over-par 157. Summit’s Saylor Gillet was third, finishing 16-over (77-81—158).
Redmond’s Payton Richardson finished seventh at 29-over (87-83—170).
Summit’s Macy McAlister finished ninth at 33-over (91-84—175).
Four more Intermountain Conference golfers finished in the top 25 on the leaderboard. Ridgeview’s Mya Oakes was 12th (86-91—177), Summit’s Clare Crawley took 21st (90-98—188), Caldera’s Sofia Padre finished 24th (99-95—194), and Summit’s Aubrey Olinger was 25th (98-97—195).
Crook County second in 4A/3A/2A/1A state championship
The Crook County girls golf team finished second as a team on Tuesday in the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state championships at Tokatee Golf Club in Blue River.
Salem Academy won the team state title with a two-day score of 758.
Crook County finished with a 772 and North Bend was third with a 773.
Valley Catholic’s Madeleine Conser won the individual state title, finishing 6-over (77-73—150).
La Pine had two players in the top 10: Kylee Smith finished 26-over (81-89—170) and Hailey Smith was eighth (92-97—179).
Crook County boasted three players in the top 20 on its way to the state title: Merritt O’Gorman was 14th (89-94—183), Haylee Noland was 16th (94-90—184) and Sawyerlu McDonald placed 20th (98-96—194).
