Bend-La Pine Schools recognized staff who distinguished themselves through leadership, professional practice, innovation and positive contributions Wednesday at Mountain View High School.

Nominated by their supervisors, the 73 staffers were honored at the annual Excellence in Education awards ceremony. Staff included custodians, counselors, kitchen managers, educational assistants, teachers, office managers and bus drivers, among others.

The district also named the 14 finalists for certified employee of the year and support staff employee of the year. Those awards will be announced in the fall.
