Oregon Blackbears reach an agreement to resume play in the Arena Football League

The Oregon Blackbears will continue playing in 2024.
Just days after the Arena Football League franchise looked like it might be forced to shut down, the Blackbears announced Friday of “a dramatic turns of events” with an agreement “in principle” with the league to continue playing games and complete the 2024 season.
The agreement comes three days after the Blackbears were “blindsided” by a league realignment announcement that reduced the league from its original 16 teams down to 10. The realignment didn’t include Blackbears, leaving them scrambling for answers.
The Blackbears played three games in 2024, with a 24-22 preseason game victory over the Washington Wolfpack on April 20, a 47-40 season-opening win over the Washington Wolfpack on April 27 and a 63-24 win over the Georgia Force on May 5.
