BASKETBALL

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark helped bring in record ticket revenue for the New York Liberty in her first game in the Big Apple. The Liberty had more than $2 million in ticket revenue for the game, a WNBA record, according to a person familiar with the situation. The game was sold out and tickets were hot on the secondary market. Clark’s first three games with the Fever have been huge for attendance.

GOLF

Shane Lowry tied a major championship record by firing a 9-under 62 in the third round of the PGA Championship. The 37-year-old Irishman recorded nine birdies without a bogey at Valhalla to match the lowest round ever in any of the four major tournaments. Four players had previously posted a 62 across the PGA, Masters, British Open and U.S. Open.

SPORTS MEDIA

The sports streaming platform planned by ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery finally has a name. It will be known as Venu Sports. The companies announced plans in February for the platform, which some consider to be the equivalent of Hulu for sports. Venu Sports still has many hurdles to clear, including regulatory approval, before it launches.
