Raymond (Ray) Lee Lakey, of Bend, Oregon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on March 7, 2024.
Ray was born on May 23, 1936, in Spokane, Washington to Kathleen (Newbill) and Floyd Lakey. Ray enjoyed an active childhood growing up in the farmlands of eastern Washington, eventually attending Washington State University and then San Francisco State University. In July 1964 he married the love of his life Marilyn. Ray and Marilyn had two sons while living in Eugene and a daughter while living in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ray moved to Bend in 1977 and purchased R&R Beverage with his brother Ron. Ray was actively engaged in the Bend community for many years, serving on boards of the Rosie Barris Foundation, Cascade Festival of Music, Rotary Club and a beloved member of First Presbyterian Church of Bend.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilyn (Person); his sons, daughter and their spouses, Chris and Timberlee of Bend; Steve and Erinn of Bend and Katie and Robert Lockwood of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren Jebb, Brodie, Dylan, Isabelle and Molly, his sisters Marlene (Tom) and Marjorie (Galen), his brother Gary (Stephanie) Lakey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray’s family would like to thank the medical staff from the third floor of St. Charles, Sister Ann and staff at BTC and all who visited. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on June 1, 2024, at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church in Bend, OR with a reception to follow.
