Silver Moon Brewing hosts easygoing rockers Left On Tenth

- Left On Tenth formed in Bozeman, Montana, and is now based out of Portland.
The first thing you notice when you look at the lineup of Left On Tenth is the presence of a couple of horn players: Trumpeter Conor Adams and saxophonist David Kaltenbach.
Unsurprisingly, the horns are also the first thing that jump out when you listen to Left On Tenth. Without them, this Portland quintet plays tuneful and easygoing guitar-led rock ‘n’ roll that recalls local faves The Mostest. (The two bands will share a bill Friday night at Silver Moon Brewing.)
But when Adams and Kaltenbach start blowing, all of a sudden Left On Tenth turns into something different, and pretty unique. On their new album “Sunup” they’re tuneful and easygoing, yes, but also often funky, sometimes slow and soulful, occasionally grunge-y and unafraid of exploring jazzy sounds. From track to track, they kind of sound like a sampler of all the bands that play in Bend — folksy, heavy, jammy, poppy, funky and so on — rolled into one. And they do it well!
Left On Tenth, with The Mostest: 8 p.m. Friday, doors open 7 p.m., $12 in advance, $15 at the door, Silver Moon Brewing, 24 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend, silvermoonbrewing.com.
