Across the political spectrum, Central Oregonians have commonalities in their perceptions of how government serves us. They generally want the government to support workforce development, mental health, child care, housing affordability, water management and lowering the cost of living.

Central Oregon voters weighed in on numerous other races in the May 21 primary election Tuesday. These results are early and unofficial.

Jefferson County

In the seven-way race for Jefferson County commissioner, Brandie D. McNamee was leading with 26.7% of votes followed by Seth Taylor with 25.0% in early, unofficial results. If those results hold, McNamee and Taylor will face off in the November general election.

A Jefferson County Rural Fire Protection District bond measure that would improve fire stations and purchase new equipment was passing Tuesday, according to unofficial results. Early returns show 56.8% percent of voters in favor of the bond.

Early results in the Madras Recreation District showed 55.4% of voters opposed to dissolving the current district and forming a new one.
