Primary election 2024: Deschutes County’s unofficial results

Voters in Deschutes County and throughout Oregon had their say on numerous issues in the May 21 primary election.

These are early, unofficial results posted just after 8 p.m., when polls were officially closed and the first ballots were counted. These numbers will change and this story will be updated.

Deschutes County Commission

In the four-way race for Deschutes County Commissioner Position 2, early returns show Phil Chang leading with 61.3 percent, followed by Rob Imhoff with 25.1 percent and Judy Trego at 10.7 percent. If Chang, the incumbent, gets 50 percent of the vote he wins another term to begin in January 2025.

Bend-La Pine Schools levy

Early, unofficial returns show the $21 million Bend-La Pine Schools levy trailing significantly. Early results show 60.6 percent against the bond 39.4 percent in favor.

Redmond city charter

In Redmond, voters had their say on three proposed amendments to the city charter. In early results, all three charter amendments look ready to pass.

Initial results show voters 84 percent support term limits for city councilors and mayor, 64.8 percent in favor doubling the mayor’s term to four years, and 78.3 percent in favor of banning multiple close family members serving together in city government.

La Pine fire district

The La Pine Rural Fire Protection District’s five and 10-year levies were passing by roughly 65% to 34%, according to early unofficial results.
