Tickets available for June 1 Novel Idea author event

As of this writing, tickets are still available for the main event of the 2024 A Novel Idea … Read Together community reading program, June 1 at Caldera High School, 60925 SE 15th St., Bend.
Each year, the Novel Idea committee selects a book as its community read, featuring related programming and events culminating in a free author visit. This year’s book of choice was the novel “Shark Heart: A Love Story,” in which some humans are evolving into other species. Author Emily Habeck, whose appearance begins at 6 p.m. in the Caldera auditorium.
That same day, Habeck will conduct a fiction writing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at the Downtown Bend Library, 601 NW Wall St., Bend. Habeck will lead participants in “playful exploration of their imaginations, delving into their experiences, emotions, and intuition to discover fresh ideas,” according to the Deschutes Public Library Foundation, which organizes A Novel Idea. The cost is $35, and again, some tickets are available.
