Bend Park & Recreation District needs teen volunteers to work with recreation programs this summer.
Opportunities are available from late June through August, and include volunteering at Shevlin Park’s Cougar Camp and the art camps at Cascade Middle School, the district said in a news release. There are a few openings with the Junior Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Aide programs at Larkspur Community Center and Juniper Swim & Fitness Center pools.
Teen volunteers learn job skills and gain experience working with children while providing support to recreation programs.
Volunteers must be able to commit to a schedule, enjoy working with younger kids, be willing to take initiative and be able to create an enjoyable environment for participants.
The time commitment, required age, schedule and training vary based on the program. All volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
More information on volunteer opportunities can be found on the park district’s website. An application is required, and criminal background checks are required for volunteers age 18 and up.
