A low-pressure system that brought blustery weather to Central Oregon and rain to the Cascade Mountains lifted Tuesday, elbowed away by an upcoming stint of stagnant air and warm temperatures indicating the summer season.

That’s the weather service version. The real feel version is Tuesday’s cool 60s will be replaced by summer on Wednesday.

The system of warm air started to build Tuesday afternoon and should reach its peak Friday with an expected high of 88 degrees, said Colby Goatley, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

“This is pretty typical once we get into the summer months,” Goatley said.

The warm front that booted early-June squalls will soften by the weekend, easing temperatures to the low 80s and bringing limited precipitation to the mountains.Read more: Go! & Do: Bend-area things to do for June 6-12

Temperatures are expected to rise again early next week. Goatley advised people to stay inside and stay hydrated if the weather gets too warm.

“Start making your summer preparations,” Goatley said. “Make sure you’re taking any increasing heat seriously.”
