Third Eye Blind, Vampire Weekend visit Hayden Homes Amphitheater

- Vampire Weekend will perform at Bend's Hayden Homes Amphitheater on Wednesday, June 19.
Bend’s Hayden Homes Amphitheater (344 SW Shevlin Hixon Drive) launched its 2024 summer concert season nearly a month ago, but it’s getting ready to ramp up with the warmer weather, which means more shows each week. Ticket prices vary significantly, so visit bendconcerts.com for the best and latest information.
Here’s what’s coming over the next seven days:
Third Eye Blind hit it big in the late ‘90s, in the space between the original alt-rock explosion and the resurgence of boy bands and teen pop stars in 1999. That’s when the San Francisco band scored its biggest hits: “Semi-Charmed Life,” “How’s It Going To Be” and “Jumper.” Now, they’re commemorating the 25th anniversary of that last song by releasing the world’s first playable .999 silver-coated and .997 karat gold-coated records.
They’ll play the amphitheater Friday, with Yellowcard and Arizona opening. 6 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m.
You’ve heard Darius Rucker or some guy in the corner of the bar play “Wagon Wheel,” of course, but do you know who originally wrote it? Fun fact: Bob Dylan wrote the chorus in 1973, and Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor wrote the verses decades later. OCMS is much more than just “Wagon Wheel,” though; they’ve got a deep catalog of fine bluegrass, folk and old-time music that stretches back a quarter of a century, including last year’s excellent “Jubilee” album. They’ll visit HHA Sunday, with must-see bluegrass band Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway opening. 6:30 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m.

For my money, the cosmopolitan pop-rock trio Vampire Weekend might just be the best headliner hitting the Hayden Homes stage this summer. “Best” is subjective, of course, but their catalog has my back: Ezra Koenig and company have released five albums since 2008, every single one of them stuffed with delightful ideas, impressive musicality, unshakeable melodies and impeccable style. Their newest, “Only God Was Above Us,” is just the latest excellent effort from one of America’s great bands. They’ll perform Wednesday, June 19, with Mike Gordon of Phish (!) opening. 6 p.m., doors open at 4:30 p.m.
