MDC, Inner Limits to play this week in Bend

There’s tons of live music happening around Central Oregon this week, including great country music and a Green Day tribute at Bend’s Volcanic Theatre Pub, Beatles tribute JuJu Eyeball kicking off Redmond’s Music on the Green concert series and local fave Jeshua Marshall playing The Suttle Lodge near Sisters. And here’s three more shows worth considering:

Legendary punk band MDC returns to Central Oregon Saturday night for a show at The Capitol (190 NW Oregon Ave., Bend). The band was an influential part of the first wave of American hardcore, and they’ve been at it for more than four decades since. Openers include It’s Chaos, Boxcutter and EyeStabGuts. 6 p.m. Saturday, $20, available only at the door.

The action is heating up on the outdoor stage at Worthy Brewing (495 NE Bellevue Drive, Bend), where the concert calendar features live music five nights per week in June. This week’s slate includes a Friday performance by Portland-based global funk ‘n’ soul group Reb & The Good News, whose deep grooves, danceable rhythms and vibrant horn section are certified party-starters. 7 p.m. Saturday, free, worthybrewing.com.

Speaking of grooves, Inner Limits will bring a trunk full of ‘em to McMenamins Old St. Francis School (700 NW Bond Street, Bend) on Wednesday, June 26. The Eugene trio plays an upbeat blend of blues, funk and rock, citing artists like John Fogerty, the Allman Brothers Band and Muddy Waters as influences. Olem Alves plays guitar and sings, Ryan Biesack plays the drums and knowledgeable local music lovers might notice a familiar name and/or face on the keys: Torrey Newhart, who grew up in Bend and played in jazz bands here before heading off to college. 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, free, mcmenamins.com.
