This aerial shot shows the roof in late October, after six of the 18 sections of roof were placed.

The massive $2.15 billion remodel project of the Portland International Airport is almost done. The carpet has been laid, the nine-acre wooden rooftop is in place. Now, the airport is looking for thousands of volunteers to test things out at the new main terminal.

PDX is hosting what they are calling a “dress rehearsal” on Saturday, Aug. 3, and they are asking people to register to be part of the event.

Participants will get a $50 Visa gift card to spend about two hours exploring the space and acting out different travel scenarios.

There will also be snacks, a chance to win other prizes and parking will be validated.

“It will be like a real travel day, but think of it as a soft opening: everything may not be perfect just yet, so we need your help to see what works well and what still needs fine-tuning,” reads the event invite.
