The Eugene band El Borko ¡Surf! will play Redmond's High Desert Music Hall on Saturday.

To explain the premise behind the Power Trio Trio tour coming to Redmond’s High Desert Music Hall Saturday night, let’s turn it over to one of the bands on said tour: El Borko ¡Surf! from Eugene.

“A Power Trio is drums, bass, and guitar, with no extra baggage. Consider how many great bands have this configuration. To name a few; The Police, ZZ Top, Cream,” El Borko guitarist Brook Adams writes on his website. “Also four piece bands with a lead singer like The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Black Sabbath. For a guitar player, a power trio is challenging and fun, and it reeks of rock n’ roll.”

Any rock ‘n’ roll that reeks is OK with us! As you might guess, the Power Trio Trio tour includes two bands that fit the bill: The aforementioned classic surf-rock band El Borko ¡Surf!, plus Hood River’s Bonneville Power Trio, who play a fun brand of old-school punk.

Joining the show in Redmond will be Bend’s own surf-punk shredders Shade 13, who sound like the Rev. Horton Heat’s instrumentals formed a band, or like someone playing Ventures covers with a chainsaw. They rip!

El Borko ¡Surf! With Bonneville Power Trio and Shade 13: 8 p.m. Saturday, $10, High Desert Music Hall, 818 SW Forest Ave., Redmond, highdesertmusichall.com.
