Darlene 3 Fire 50% contained, more evacuations lifted

- Firefighters continue to battle the Darlene 3 Fire, which had burned 3,889 acres as of Friday morning and was 42% contained.
The Darlene 3 Fire near La Pine is now 50% contained and has burned 3,889 acres as of Saturday. Fire crews have been able to keep the fire within containment lines, and flames are only burning untouched fuel within its current footprint.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s team planned to vacate incident command at the end of Saturday, and Central Oregon’s Type 3 Incident Management Team will assume command of operations.
The Newberry Estates subdivision has been reduced from a Level 3 “go now” evacuation to a Level 2 “get set” evacuation, and all notices have been lifted for areas west of U.S. Highway 97 and north of Burgess Road. Weather is expected to be remain favorable for fire suppression.
