The Darlene 3 Fire is 100% contained and remains at 3,889 acres burned as of Monday evening. All containment lines set by fire crews Saturday have held the fire in the same footprint as Sunday.

Central Oregon’s local fire team are now mopping up and looking for hot spots near the fire perimeter, according to fire officials, being cautious of hazards including standing, unstable burned trees and stump holes with hot ash. They plan to patrol the area until the fire is completely out.

Central Oregon Fire Management Services, an interagency fire management team, requested a state investigator to investigate the origin of the fire, but the investigation has not started. Fire officials said last week the fire was human-caused and pinpointed the location of the fire’s origin on Bureau of Land Management land, but they did not yet know the specific cause.

Evacuation levels were changed to Level 1 and 2 for residents near La Pine 5 p.m. Monday. Road closures near the fire are to protect fire teams patrolling the area.

As Fourth of July approaches, fire officials advise to stay up to date on the Public Fire Use Restrictions which went into effect Monday. Warmer temperatures are expected to reach the low 100s this weekend.
