Oregon’s ethics commission rejected the complaints made against Gov. Tina Kotek about the role of her spouse. It was a close vote.
And now, as OPB reported, there are some questions from Kotek that the commission can take up: Can her spouse, Aimee Kotek Wilson, help develop and promote Kotek’s priorities? Can she have a staff for official duties? And what other ethics issues are there?
We respect whatever answers the commission comes up with. But we do wonder if the Legislature should hold hearings and clearly define what Oregonians want for the limits and duties of the office of any first spouse or first companion.
