- Slash, seen with his Gibson Les Paul, brings his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival to Hayden Homes Amphitheater Wednesday.
If you’re of a certain age — old enough to remember the 1980s, let’s say — the musician known as Slash is likely seared into your memory as the swaggering, cig-dangling, tipsy top-hatted guitarist who not only came up with those great Guns N’ Roses licks, but also looked like the coolest rock ‘n’ roller on the planet in the band’s inescapable videos.
And that’s how you should remember Slash! What a force of nature that band was back then, and he was a huge part of their sound.
They’re still together, by the way, and he’s still a member. But right now, he’s focused on touring behind his new solo album “Orgy of the Damned,” a collection of rip-roaring blues covers featuring a bunch of guest players and singers, including Chris Stapleton, Iggy Pop, Demi Lovato, Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Chris Robinson of Black Crowes.
On Wednesday, July 10, Slash will bring his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival tour to Bend’s Hayden Homes Amphitheater for a plugged-in celebration of the blues featuring guitar-wielding guests Eric Gales, Samantha Fish and the Warren Haynes Band. Fans of well-played electric guitars: Run, don’t walk, to this show.
S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival, with Slash, Warren Haynes Band, Samantha Fish and Eric Gales: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, doors open 4:30 p.m., $63.70 and up, Hayden Homes Amphitheater, 344 SW Shevlin Hixon Drive, Bend, bendconcerts.com.
