Moon Rattles sets album-release show for Saturday in Bend

As you may or may not know, there are a bunch of good rock bands in Bend right now, including The Color Study, Not Your Ex Lover, Cptn Over, Night Channels, Bangers, The Rumpeppers, Dead Nettle, Amargoso, Via For Real and so on and so on.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive; if your band (or your favorite band) isn’t mentioned, pretend they are!

Anyway, Moon Rattles also belong in the previous paragraph, not only because they’re a good, Bend-based rock band, but also because they have a new album out called “The Future & It’s Now,” which they’ll celebrate its release with a show Friday night at The Ale Apothecary.

Moon Rattles is Andrew Egli, Alex Smith, Ethan Grimes and Kelsey Kuther, and together they recorded the new album with Dayne Wood at The Firing Room studio in Bend. The 12 songs on “The Future & It’s Now” showcase the band’s knack for both punchy alt-rock grooves and memorable power-pop hooks.

Sonically, they sit somewhere between Spoon and The New Pornographers, which is an excellent place to sit, as those are two of the best rock bands of the past 20 years.

Another good Bend-based rock band, Palo Sopraño, will open Saturday’s show.

Moon Rattles’ album release show, with Palo Sopraño: 6 p.m. Saturday, free, The Ale Apothecary, 30 SW Century Drive, Bend, instagram.com/moonrattlesband.
