- The NW Hill Street home in Bend where Evelyn Weaver was found dead in 2023.
Evelyn Weaver was found dead in her Bend home one year ago July 18. She was 28 years old and grew up in Huntington Beach, California. She worked at a pharmaceutical company in Bend. She was 5-foot-6 with brown eyes and brown hair.
And no one knows how she died.
Police have released little information and have publicly acknowledged no leads or suspects.
“Since our officers responded to Evelyn Weaver’s home on July 18, 2023, the Bend Police Department has worked diligently to solve her homicide, using a variety of investigative techniques,” said Sheila Miller, communications director for the Bend Police Department.
Authorities will not release information beyond the fact that she was found dead in her home on the 200 block of NW Hill Street in Bend when a man visited to check on Weaver and found her unresponsive. Two days later, on July 20, police located her Silver Honda CR-V abandoned in Klamath Falls.
Miller would not elaborate on what investigative techniques she was referencing in her statement, but has alluded in previous conversations with The Bulletin to the importance of video evidence for the case.
In an interview with a Bulletin reporter published shortly after Weaver’s death, Miller stated footage from homeowners and businesses spanning between Bend and Klamath falls from around the time Weaver’s vehicle was abandoned on July 16 has been instrumental in building a timeline for the investigation.
Detectives also asked Tesla drivers driving between Bend and Klamath Falls on the night of Weaver’s death to submit video footage.
“This is not a cold case,” Miller re-iterated ahead of the one-year anniversary of Weaver’s death. “Our department currently has one detective assigned full time to Ms. Weaver’s homicide, as well as a detective supervisor overseeing the case’s progress. Our department will not stop working to bring justice to Ms. Weaver and her family.”
While Miller paints an optimistic picture of the investigation, little new information has been released since authorities located Weaver’s car. Miller also would not confirm or deny whether detectives have any new leads or provide any additional context to the investigation.
Indeed, very little information is available about Weaver and how she lived.
Weaver’s estate documents paint an average financial picture. The totality of her estate was valued around $70,000, including her checking account, health savings account and retirement account. That money was split equally between Weaver’s mother and father minus funeral and legal expenses, according to probate records.
Court documents also show Weaver had minimal criminal history. In 2022, she was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and refusal to submit to testing, but all charges were vacated after she cooperated with the court’s diversion program. The case was dismissed on June 28, 2023, just two weeks before her death.
Online, Weaver’s friends have described her as a delightful person with an outgoing personality.
