Fire crews extinguish brush fire in Crooked River Ranch

- A small brush fire led to some evacuations Thursday in Crooked River Ranch, but crews quickly corralled and contained the fire.
A fast-moving brush fire that burned near homes in Crooked River Ranch on Thursday was quickly extinguished by fire crews, but not after some homeowners were briefly evacuated.
The fire grew to about 8 acres in size before crews contained it.. No one was injured and no homes were damaged.
About 7 p.m. on Thursday, a homeowner on SW Quail Road called 911 to report the fire. Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue crews responded as did Redmond, Bend, Cloverdale, Crook County, Sisters and Jefferson County fire departments. When crews first arrived, they found a fast-moving brush fire threatening several homes.
Level 3—Go Now evacuations were issued for residents from SW Quail to Tadpole Court, including some residents on SW Rainbow Road. Those evacuation orders have since been lifted, though residents are reminded of high fire danger in the area. Residents who were evacuated were sent to Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue Station 501.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
