- Riders fly through on a Davis Shows Northwest ride at the Deschutes County Fair.
Thrill-loving fair-goers of all ages will have the opportunity to drop, turn and twirl on nearly 35 Deschutes County Fair rides. This year, return visitors will find two fresh rides and one new game.
Put on by Davis Shows Northwest, a family-owned carnival business, the carnival will greet people with a welcome monument with video installations, according to Geoff Hinds, director of Deschutes County Fair and Expo.
The two new rides include Ice Jet and Toon Cars, according to Pat Davis, owner of Davis Shows Northwest.
Ice Jet is a ride aimed at teen-aged and adult coaster-lovers, where riders will spin in a circle on gondolas through an ice mountain landscape to music.
Toon Cars is aimed at carnival youth and will be located in Kiddy Land. The ride features cartoon-themed cars that move to music. Mini Ball, a new short-range basketball game, will give people a chance to shoot hoops from a shorter distance in comparison to their long-distance game, said Davis. Players have the opportunity to win a nine-inch basketball, each with a different logo.
“Davis Shows Northwest always brings a phenomenal grouping of rides for the fair and rodeo, and they continue to invest and bring in newer, bigger and better rides each and every year,” Hinds said.
“We’re really excited to see what toys they bring us and our community to play on this year.”
Returning rides and games include two Ferris wheels, family and child coasters, a drop tower, swing ride, slide, funhouse, rocking ship and more.
Weaving in and out of the rides, carnival-goers can expect along with classics like cotton candy, ice cream, funnel cakes and more. New on the carnival menu this year will be baked potatoes and corn-on-the-cob.
“Come spend the day, there’s something for everybody, whether it’s the animals, the exhibits, the foods, the independent foods, the concerts,” Davis said.
Carnival wristbands can be purchased online for $32 before July 31.
Otherwise, wristbands can be purchased after July 31 for $40 online or at the fair.
