More coverage of Congressional primary
Although we are all interested in the latest on the presidential election, we have at our finger tips, many sources of information. There is another race of great interest to us — the 5th Congressional District contest between Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Janelle Bynum. The economy, Ukraine, abortion, climate change — so much to consider. I’m sure both candidates are speaking daily on all of this, but I’m not hearing much. Why? Because I depend on The Bulletin as my main source. If you wish to empower our community, please start covering this race. Don’t wait until the candidates come here. Start now!

Too much for Drake Park
I’m wondering how many other people in this community feel that the music at Munch & Music has become inappropriate for kids and not a nice match for beautiful Drake Park. I remember when this concert series was acoustic instruments, all with mics of course, and it had such a charming Bend, family feel. Now it’s always so loud! Amplifier, electric guitar, synthesized music and this week a lot of swear words in the first band’s lyrics. The bass pumps and rocks for a mile in each direction until 9:00 or later. This type of performance is not appropriate for Drake Park. It should be at the Old Mill or a typical music festival venue. Now the event has also become a big advertising event for the sponsors. The most recent addition is the huge big screen TV with the sponsor’s ads on it. Let’s start a movement to bring this event back down to the scale of Drake Park! Enough!

Don’t shrink Greenwood
The shrinking of Greenwood lanes of traffic…my question to the Bend City Council: Are you crazy? There are businesses impacted. The Cascade Theatrical Company … you are taking away parking. Greenwood is the one major east/west link. You allowed public comment at a meeting. Did you hear a majority in favor of this plan? Judging by comments on Facebook.. I doubt it. There were a number of comments from avid bicyclists that oppose your plan. You are going to create a traffic nightmare. Greenwood is often a bottleneck. At anytime of day. With housing continuing to be built on the east side, traffic will only get worse.
I lived on east side of Bend 20 plus years and Greenwood was crowded then. Bend citizens maybe this council does not listen to you and may need to be recalled.

McArdle is a mouthpiece of power
I’m curious whether you can point to a liberal opinion columnist to balance the frequent appearances of Megan McArdle on your editorial page. Her recent column on rent control is so disingenuously argued that it is barely believable that someone could write it, let alone have it published. She does not mention the fact that software is allowing landlords to collude and artificially elevate prices, so her argument that rental prices are an accurate or fair reflection of demand falls flat. Nor does she mention that Wall Street is buying up neighborhoods as a shareholder opportunity, which both artificially inflates demand and creates usurious landlord dynamics.
McArdle strikes me as nothing more than a mouthpiece for power. I doubt her values align with the majority of your subscribers. Part of the reason corporate news media is failing is that the ownership class is completely out of touch with ordinary Americans. Columns like hers illustrate the divide and likely do your business few favors.
