A marijuana dispensary in Bend was robbed by a man with a handgun around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Bend Police Department.

An employee at Top Shelf Medicine on Greenwood Avenue called 911 after she was allegedly threatened with a handgun and struck in the face by the gunman, who reportedly stole a bag of marijuana and walked out the door.

The man allegedly attempted to fire two shots at the employee, but the handgun malfunctioned, police said. Detectives are currently investigating what exactly occurred.

While one employee called police, two others struggled with the man and were injured putting him in a headlock. Less than one minute later, officers arrived and took the man into custody, using a wrap device to restrain him.

After Boggess was cleared at the hospital, he was booked into the Deschutes County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of fourth-degree assault, second-degree assault, harassment, interference with a 911 call, three counts of menacing and being felon in possession of firearm.

Boggess was previously convicted of robbery in 2015 in California, according to court documents.
