Travelers planning to visit Crater Lake National Park over the coming week may need to adjust their itinerary as firefighting efforts will temporarily close the park’s north entrance.
Beginning Tuesday, the north entrance will close for seven days as fire crews prepare control lines in the area for the Middle Fork Fire. The North Entrance Road will be closed from North Junction to the park boundary at the junction with state Highway 138.
The 4,929-acre Middle Fork Fire was 0% contained as of Monday. The fire is burning in the northwest corner of Crater Lake National Park.
All other park roads will remain open, except for construction closures on East Rim Drive. The lake itself is open and accessible from state Highway 62 on the western and southern routes. Drivers should expect longer lines than normal due to the lack of access from the north.

In addition to the temporary closure at the North Entrance of Crater Lake, the Middle Fork Fire is also responsible for closing the Pacific Crest Trail from the Dutton Ridge Intersection to Highway 138.
