Dolores A Colbo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away on July 22nd, 2024 at age 87 in Tigard, Oregon. Born November 25th, 1936 in Tacoma, Washington, Dolores was raised by mother, Agnes Shafer, and stepfather, Lauren Shafer, along with father, Elmer Helf. Dolores (Dee) attended both St. Patrick’s grade school and Aquinas Academy in Tacoma and treasured the lifelong bonds of friendship with her classmates from the Class of 1954. She attended college at the University of Puget Sound and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Dee married Weston (Wes) Colbo, the love of her life, in 1956. A devoted wife and mother, Dee put faith and family first. She loved creating traditions around the holidays, family gatherings in Palm Springs, and our annual Labor Day celebration in Lincoln City. We’ll remember Mom’s love of golfing, traveling, gardening, shopping, decorating for the holidays, and white-on-white cake. Mom took joy in being a hostess. A favorite was her annual Christmas luncheon with dear friends. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
Dolores was unwavering in her faith and had longtime affiliations with St. Mark’s (Seattle), St. Francis of Assisi (Bend, OR) and more recently, Holy Trinity (Beaverton.) Mom blessed our lives by building a legacy of genuine kindness, grace, humility, and service to others. She embodied selflessness, compassion, integrity, and pure love. She had the gift of always seeing the positive in others, putting her trust in the power of prayer, and enjoyed bringing people together. She believed in serving others and volunteering. Close to her heart was the Birthright Chapter in Bend, serving as a founding member and director for 30 years. She cherished membership in PEO Chapter ∑N, enjoying its friendships and philanthropy. Dee is preceded in death by her husband, Weston (Wes) Colbo, brother, Richard Helf, and grandson, Jacob Colbo.
