Mark Schiewe

August 19, 1952 – August 1, 2024

Mark Norman Schiewe, born August 17th, 1952, died on August 1st, 2024, of natural causes at 71.

Mark was the eldest child of Norman and Carol Schiewe, born in Vallejo, California. He grew up in and around southern California. For his freshman through junior years, he attended Mira Loma High School in Sacramento. The family moved in his senior year, and he graduated from South Hills High School in West Covina and then from LaVerne College. He married Lori Anne Connor on July 14, 1973. They had two children, Reid (1975) and Anne (1979).

In 1980, they moved to Bend, Oregon, to pursue their love of the outdoors and as an escape from city life. Central Oregon and the Oregon coast provided many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and the natural splendor of God’s creation. His activities included Nordic and alpine skiing and fishing in the rivers, lakes, and oceans for every imaginable creature that lives in the water. He hiked and biked across the Cascade Mountains and local Central Oregon trails. He loved water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and floating in all the waterways. He raised livestock, hunted many kinds of game, and foraged the wilderness for mushrooms. He enjoyed virtually everything you could do outdoors in Oregon.

While living in Bend, Mark worked for North Coast Electric, then Consolidated Electrical Distributing, and Powers of Automation until retiring at age 65. After retirement, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, building low-cost housing around Bend.

He is survived by son Reid Schiewe (wife Misti), daughter Annie Forester (husband Dan), grandchildren Sabrina, Ada, and Colin, brother Gregg Schiewe, and sisters Lisa Harris-Schiewe and Laura Schiewe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Carol, and by his wife, Lori.

A private remembrance will be held for close friends and family.
