Here are some casual outdoor events for the dog days of summer.
Head up to the airshow in Madras, volunteer at a local community garden or take a lunchtime walk with the Downtown Bend Library.
Airshow of the Cascades
The two-day event, which traces its roots to the late 1970s, includes an air show starring several vintage planes, car show with old-school automobiles, a nighttime fireworks display, live music from Portland band Hit Machine and other local acts, regional food vendors and fly-ins.

Weeding at Franklin’s Corner
All are welcome to help Pollinator Pathway Bend weed the Franklin’s Corner community garden. Attendees are encouraged to bring weeding tools, shovel, bucket, gloves, hat, sunscreen and water. The garden is maintained entirely by volunteers and utilizes Waterwise landscaping with native pollinator plants. No registration required, just show up.

Wednesday Walks with the Library
Everyone is welcome to join the folks at the Downtown Bend Public Library every second and fourth Wednesday of the month for a brisk 30-minute walk during lunchtime. All abilities are welcome and no registration is required. The No. 1 rule is no one walks alone.
