The U.S. Forest Service will host a hiring event in September for wildland firefighters seeking permanent seasonal positions on hand crews, engine crews and hotshot crews, among other jobs.

The in-person recruitment event will be held at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center on Sept. 12 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Similar events will be held simultaneously in Sandy, La Grande and Wenatchee, Washington. The Forest Service seeks to fill approximately 200 entry-level jobs.

Permanent seasonal positions are guaranteed at least six consecutive months of work every year in the same role. As permanent seasonal employees, those hired do not need to reapply for work. They are guaranteed a position the following year.
