- The front of the proposed Redmond Public Library, facing Centennial Park.
The Deschutes Public Library system will hold its first Festival of Voices from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at Redmond’s Centennial Park, which faces the under-construction Redmond Public Library.
The festival is an inclusive celebration for the diverse voices and stories of Central Oregon, according to the library system. It is an outgrowth of Latino Fest, an event organized by the Latino Community Association that recently moved to Madras. The association assisted library staff in planning the event.
The festival will include 10 partners with tables, so community members can drop in on presentations, performances and hands-on learning experiences. There will also be story time, a scavenger hunt for swag and relevant booklists available for pick up.
The event will wrap up with a swearing-in ceremony for new citizens, conducted by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and field officers.
Food trucks will be on-site.
