- Oregon State University-Cascades will host an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month discussion on Thursday.
Oregon State University-Cascades will host an outdoor screening of the film “Encanto” Sept. 27 to celebrate both Bend’s Welcoming Week and Hispanic Heritage Month.
In addition to the screening, the campus will host Hispanic cultural activities such as the card game Loteria and crafts such as the paper craft papel picado and piñatas.
The event begins at 6 p.m. in Edward Ray Hall and the screening begins at 7 p.m. on the Oval Green. The film — a 2021 animated Disney musical about a magical family in Colombia — will be shown in English with Spanish subtitles.
Attendees may bring blankets and low lawn chairs. The first 200 attendees will receive a gift bag that celebrates the month’s theme “Pioneers of Change.”
The screening and activities are being sponsored by the city, and will be free to attend.
