The Bend Heroes Foundation will honor those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, and in the war on terrorism at Brooks Park starting 8 a.m. Wednesday. The event will take place at the Bend Heroes Memorial in the park.

Members of the group will read President Joe Biden’s proclamation and display a flag with the names of first responders, civilians and veterans who have died. Members will read the names of those from Bend who died during the war on terrorism and describe the efforts the Bend Heroes Foundation has taken to honor Oregon’s veterans, such as the Bend Parade of Flags.

Flags will be displayed at the memorial and on the Newport Avenue Bridge adjacent to it. This event is free to the public.
