The public has an opportunity to climb aboard a fire engine and meet Bend’s firefighters at an open house hosted at Bend Fire & Rescue’s North Fire Station.

The station, at 63377 NE Jamison St. in Bend, will open its doors to the community on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The north station is located west of U.S. Highway 20 just north of the Deschutes County jail.

All are welcome to attend the event, which will include free ice cream and tours of the station, according to a news release.

Off-duty firefighters, chiefs and prevention staff will be in attendance, said Jace Moulton, fire inspector with the department. Usually, staff don’t have time to chat casually with the public.

“It’s one of our very few opportunities where our firefighters actually have an opportunity to meet people,” he said.
