- Salomon's "Quality Ski Time Film Tour" premieres in Bend on Tuesday at the Tower Theatre.
For the second year in a row, Salomon is launching the “Quality Ski Time Film Tour” at Bend’s Tower Theater with an evening of short films, giveaways and a chance to meet the athletes onscreen.
Last year’s North American tour kicked off with a sold-out show, paving the way for a global 2024 tour with over 20 stops on three continents, said Joe Johnson, Salomon’s alpine marketing manager.
The lineup includes classic ski films with riders navigating deep powder in Blank Collective’s “Camp Blank,” freestyle skiing by the départ crew in “Open” and the next evolution of Cody Townsend’s Fifty Project, an attempt to ski all lines in “The Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America.”

Also in the lineup are stories of resilience, purpose and strength.
“One of the things that set us apart from other ski films or ski film tours is that we try to focus on unique stories, stories that people can relate to, stories that people from different ski backgrounds and different ski ability levels can relate to,” Johnson said.
Drew Petersen, a longtime Salomon athlete and the tour’s emcee, debuts his second film focused on mental health, “Feel It All.”
It chronicles Petersen’s struggle with suicidal depression and setting a goal of running the Leadville Trail 100-mile ultramarathon. The film aims to create cultural change related to mental health awareness and suicide prevention, according to the website.
“It’s a very important topic that does not get addressed enough and from my perspective — being part of the brand — I couldn’t be more proud to have a film like that be a part of it,” Johnson said.
“It’s not just about skiing y’all. This is about caring for each other, making sure that we’re all on the same page and looking out for each other.”

A portion of every ticket sold benefits environmental advocacy group Protect Our Winters. Over the last two years, the tour has donated over $20,000 to the nonprofit, in addition to partnership dollars, according to Johnson.
Attendees will have the chance to win a grand prize of a three-night stay at the Journeyman Lodge in British Columbia with three days of guided backcountry tours, offered in partnership with outdoor retailer Evo.
