The votes are in for The Bulletin’s Athletes of Week for Sept. 9-14. More than 2,500 total votes were casted.

Azsmita Pennington, a senior on the Crook County volleyball team, and Mason Morical, a junior on the Caldera boys cross-country team, were voted by Bulletin readers as the boys and girls Athletes of the Week.

Azsmita Pennington, Crook County volleyball

Pennington was nominated by Crook County volleyball coach Makayla Lindburg after the senior outside hitter found success from the service line with six aces in her 23 serves in the Cowgirls’ 3-0 win over Caldera on Sept. 12.

Mason Morical, Caldera cross-country

Morical was nominated by Caldera cross-country coach Charlotte Richardson after the junior runner not only won the race, but broke the course record by 14 seconds with a time of 15:51 at the Caldera Wolfpack XC 5K on Sept. 14.

New nominations will be announced on Tuesday. Local athletes are nominated for the honor by coaches and The Bulletin sports staff.
