Sandvall was nominated by Bend High cross-country coach Caleb Hoffman after the freshman posted a 40-second improvement at the Northwest Classic at Lane Community College in Eugene on Sept. 21.

Sandvall had a top-30 finish (top-10 among freshmen) with a time of 21 minutes, 1 second.
