Pine Fire east of Bend grows to 7,000 acres

- A wildfire burns near Pine Mountain, south of Millican about 7 p.m. in rural eastern Deschutes County.
The Pine Fire burning 22 miles southeast of Bend had grown to 7,020 acres by Tuesday afternoon and was 25% contained.
Level 3-Go Now evacuation orders are still in effect for areas west of Moffitt Road and south of U.S. Highway 20 to Fox Butte Road. Anyone on public lands surrounding Pine Mountain, including Antelope Ridge and Kotzman Basin, is urged to evacuate immediately.
Level 2-Be Set evacuation notices have been issued for areas south of Highway 20, west of Fox Butte Road, north of the Deschutes National Forest, east of Pine Mountain Road, and south of Highway 20, west of Frederick Butte Road and east of Moffitt Road.
Federal, state and municipal agencies are responding to the fire. Monday night, the Central Oregon Fire Management Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, Brothers — Hampton Rangeland Fire Protection Association and Alfalfa Fire District responded with several engines, a 10-person hand crew, two bulldozers, air tankers and a Type 1 helicopter.
The cause of the fire, which began around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, is still being investigated. It is burning on Prineville Bureau of Land Management land.
