George Nicholas Arnis

November 12, 1928 – September 27, 2024

George Nicholas Arnis passed away peacefully in Bend at the Partners in Care Hospice House September 27, 2024. George was born in Leadville, Colorado. He lived in Colorado until his late 20s, graduating from Western State College with a teaching degree while participating on the Nordic and Alpine ski teams. He loved to climb mountains and was part of a first ascent expedition in the South American Andes in the 1950’s. His love for skiing, hiking, and biking lasted well into his later life. Along with a group of teacher friends, he was part owner and manager of Willamette Pass Ski Area for a short time in the early 60’s. George is survived by his ex-wife Ardith Winters, four sons and their spouses, Nicholas (Rebecca), Michael (Amy), Christopher (Cindy), and Mathew (Heather), and seven grandchildren, Alexander and Sonya Arnis, Grace and Caroline Arnis, Katie and Tristan Arnis, and Maxwell Arnis.
