The semi-outdoor ice rink at The Pavillion in Bend is officially open. Bend Park & Recreation District opened the rink Wednesday and plans to keep ice activities going through April, weather permitting.
The Pavillion offers daily public open skate times, plus curling and hockey leagues. Public skate sessions are drop-in and no reservations are needed. Rental skates are available. Skaters are encouraged to bring their own helmet or use one provided by the facility.
A Halloween skate is scheduled for Oct. 31 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., a no-school day for Bend-La Pine District school students. Costumes are welcome but not required. A $7 per person fee includes rental skates.
Hockey leagues, curling and skate lessons start next week. For those not signed up in the upcoming session, a new round of programs runs from January to March — registration will be held Dec. 9-11.
