The Portland band Maita is led by singer-songwriter Maria Maita-Keppeler.

Here’s a midweek treat coming your way on Wednesday, Oct. 30: The great Portland band Maita will perform at Crux Fermentation Project in Bend, with the also great local band The Color Study opening the show. Let’s take those in reverse order, shall we?

The Color Study is a talented sextet of local players led by Scott Oliphant, a longtime recording engineer who, in recent years, has been writing songs about love, loss, life and all the feelings that come with those things. His band then takes those songs and turns them into atmospheric roots-pop anthems, which you can hear on their new EP “Canyons Pt. 1,” released in June.

And Maita is one of the best bands in the music-rich City of Roses, thanks in large part to its primary creative force, Maria Maita-Keppeler, an Oregon native who pours big buckets of raw emotional honesty into her gorgeous indie-folk-rock songs. Her namesake band’s new album “Want” is a detailed and devastating depiction of a relationship on the rocks, as well as one of the best albums of the year by anyone, anywhere.

Maita, with The Color Study: 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, free, Crux Fermentation Project, 50 SW Division Street, Bend.
