Selco Community Credit Union has opened public voting to award up to $45,000 for three classroom makeovers across the state. There are nine finalists for three winners in the regions Central and Eastern Oregon, Northwest Oregon and Southwest Oregon.
The Central and Eastern Oregon finalists are three schools in Bend: Caldera High, Buckingham Elementary and Trinity Lutheran School.
The three winners will receive at most $15,000 to make over classrooms. In this case, classroom means any learning space, including libraries, gymnasiums, outdoor spaces and more. The voting process is open now through Nov. 14 at the Selco website, with each voter limited to one vote for the region they live in. VisitĀ www.selco.org/vote to vote.
Caldera High School would use the funding to finish expanding the school’s makerspace, including storage solutions, tools and equipment to work on bikes.
Buckingham Elementary School would use the funding to create an inclusive classroom environment.
Trinity Lutheran School would use the funding to create a science classroom with microscopes, stethoscopes, storage and more.
