Megan Burtt kicks off Suttle Lodge’s winter concert series

One of the off-the-beaten-path pleasures within Central Oregon’s music scene is a concert inside the Skip Bar & Restaurant at The Suttle Lodge on Suttle Lake, about 14 miles northwest of Sisters.

It’s a cozy place to take in some live tunes, with massive timbers spanning the room, a large stone fireplace providing ample warmth, some vinyl records and a turntable for DIY DJing and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the water. There’s comfortable seating but space for only a few dozen people, so the vibe is intimate and mellow.

The lodge’s Firesides Concert Series happens most Thursdays, and $10 gets you in. It’ll kick off this week with Colorado-based singer-songwriter Megan Burtt, whose music is a moody blend of honest folk and groovy pop. Her good new album “Witness” kind of sounds like what might happen if you blended the three members of Boygenius into one.

Anyway, Burtt’s the first of many artists to play Suttle Lodge over the next five months.

Megan Burtt: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, $10, The Suttle Lodge, 13300 U.S. 20, Sisters, thesuttlelodge.com.
