Redmond Mayor Ed Fitch has clinched another term, defeating challenger Cat Zwicker in Tuesday’s election.

Shannon Wedding, Jay Patrick and Clifford Evelyn are projected to win seats on the Redmond City Council.

Fitch had 57.7% of votes as of Wednesday morning. Although the count is not final, Fitch expressed optimism.

“It’s a little early,” Fitch said Tuesday night, “but so far so good.”

A Redmond resident since 1979, Fitch has served two prior mayoral terms and was challenged in this election by Redmond City Council President Cat Zwicker and Redmond resident Charles Baer. Zwicker, a local small-business owner and real estate broker, will continue to serve on City Council until her term ends in 2026.

“I think we ran a very good race,” said Zwicker. She also expressed her appreciation for the support and faith of Redmond residents in her work.

Fitch plans to continue his focus on transportation, homelessness and affordable housing. He believes strongly in the bright future of Redmond and looks forward to the chance to improve the city.

“I just think that things are going well in Redmond right now,” said Fitch. “We are making a lot of progress.”

In the City Council race, incumbent candidates Shannon Wedding and Clifford Evelyn, along with Jay Patrick, were the top vote-getters vying for the three open seats on the council. Tobias Colvin was fourth by a slim margin. The top three vote-getters earn four-year terms on council.
