Lonnie Canning, 84, of Bend passed away on October 23, 2024.
Lonnie was born December 1, 1939, in Grand Island Nebraska to Howard and Leona Canning. He was raised in Nampa Idaho and spent a brief time in the army before returning home to marry Ettia (Churchill) in 1962; they were married almost 45 years. Lonnie worked in the Mill industry as a sander operator and retired from the Kor Pine Mill in Bend in 2002. He and his wife Ettia were involved in the Lamplighter program with AAL/Thrivent and other volunteer opportunities within their church.
Lonnie is survived by his 4 siblings: fraternal twin Lodain, Lorna, Jerry, and Jane, 2 daughters Cheryl Benitez (Rick) and Mari Jacobson (Brad), 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and both of his parents.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 10th at 1:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to either Trinity Lutheran Church or Partners in Care Hospice.
