Police: No threat in ‘suspicious package’ near courthouse in Bend

An area near the Deschutes County Courthouse in Bend was closed off Tuesday afternoon while the Oregon State Police bomb squad and other law enforcement responded to a suspicious package that turned out to be hygiene products. There was no danger to the public, officials said.

Around noon Tuesday, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious package at the county’s administration buildings at 1300 NW Wall Street. The Oregon State Police Bomb squad responded to the call and determined the suspicious package was not a danger to the public and contained hygiene products.

Law enforcement initially closed down roads and access to county buildings in response to the call. Roads and access to county buildings were reopened.
